Great Games – Jack Youngblood
Jack Youngblood is a hall-of-fame defensive end who played his entire career for the Los Angeles Rams. One of the things he is famous for is playing through the entire 1979/80 playoffs (including the Super Bowl loss to the Rams) with a fractured left fibula… yeah, it’s safe to say he was a tough guy. Let’s look at one of his great games…
In a 1975 playoff win over the St. Louis Cardinals, Jack Youngblood penetrated into the backfield while being blocked by future hall-of-famer Dan Dierdorf, he then tipped an attempted pass into the air, intercepted it and proceeded to return it 47 yards for a touchdown. Later in the game, Youngblood caused a fumble that was recovered by his teammate Fred Dryer. Still later on, Youngblood managed to block an extra point attempt by the Cardinals.
Wow… what a game!
