A Quick Look At The 2008 Free Agent Signings So Far

by @ . Filed under League Facts

Here is a quick look at the 2008 free agent signings so far. We’re not analyzing moves so much as pointing out the interesting things that have happened:

Wide receiver Marty Booker played his first five seasons with the Bears before joining the Dolphins. Now after four seasons in Miami, Booker is returning to play for Chicago.

There are a slew of signings involving players with unique first names starting with the letter “K”:
Kindal Moorehead (Falcons)
Kawika Mitchel (Bills)
Keydrick Vincent (Panthers)
Kwame Harris (Raiders)
Keary Colbert (Broncos)

The Miami Dolphins signing of quarterback Josh McCown means that he will be playing for his fourth different team in four consecutive years (Cardinals, Lions, Raiders, and now Dolphins).

A number of players who have been associated with one franchise because they’ve played their entire careers there are changing teams:

Tennessee signed tight end Alge Crumpler who played his first 7 years in Atlanta.
The 49ers signed wide receiver Isaac Bruce who played his first 14 years with the Rams.
New Orleans signed defensive lineman Dan Morgan who played his first 7 years in Carolina.
Jacksonville signed wide receiver Jerry Porter who played his first 8 years with Oakland.

So far this is shaping up to be an interesting free agent season.
