At one time, both the Raiders and the Rams called the city of Los Angeles home. The Rams had moved to L.A. in 1946 from Cleveland, where they had just won an NFL title, and played there for nearly 50 years, relocating to St. Louis in 1995. The Raiders were one of the founding members of the old AFL in 1960 and after more than 20 years in Oakland, they moved to Los Angeles before they too relocated in 1995, this time moving back to their original city.
The two teams meet up today, just the fourth time they have met since both of them left Los Angeles without a football team in the mid 1990’s.
In 1997, they played in Oakland and the Raiders would go on to win 35-17 thanks to a three touchdown performance by Jeff George.
In 2002, Rams quarterback Marc Bulger would have three touchdown performance of his own and lead his team to a victory over the visiting Raiders by the score of 28-13.
The two former L.A. teams would meet a third time in 2006 and the Rams would come out on top by the score of 20-0.
