IQFB.com will be giving it the special in-depth coverage that only we can, with a look at the trivia side of the NFL Draft. Pick-by-pick in the first round we will point out the oddities, similarities, and the just plain strangeness of the NFL Draft. Join us, won’t you?

We’re sitting here in 2008, so there is not any reason to discuss the upcoming NFL All-Decade team… seeing as it is still two years away from being named. Let’s take a look back at All-Decade teams of the past.

Who is the only player to be named to two different All-Decade teams?

That and many other questions will be answered. To make the All-Decade team, you have to have been a great player (if not dominant player) during the decade. If you truly are a great player over the course of ten years, it seems to reason that would result in a Hall-of-Fame induction too. But, how many players made All-Decade teams and did not make it into the Hall-of-Fame? We’ll answer that one too. That analysis will only involve the 1920s through the 1970s, as there are many players not in the Hall-of-Fame from the 1980s and 1990s that will be one day.

In honor of the 2007 New York Giants winning Super Bowl XLII over the previously unbeaten New England Patriots, we’ve added some new trivia items to the Giants trivia page.

Here’s a sample of some of the new little known facts about the New York Giants:

• Giants’ kicker Bjorn Nitmo was the first Swedish born player to play in the NFL.

• In his first six seasons in the NFL (with the Cardinals), running back Ottis Anderson fumbled the ball 48 times.  In his final six years (with the Giants), he fumbled the ball just three times.

• Phil Simms came in second in rookie-of-the-year balloting in 1979, the winner was St. Louis Cardinals running back and future teammate Ottis Anderson.

• In former Giants running back Dave Meggett’s entire career he completed four passes.  All of them went for touchdowns.

• The first person to use the phrase “I’m going to Disneyland” after winning the Super Bowl was Giants quarterback Phil Simms after beating the Broncos in Super Bowl XXI.  If the Giants would’ve lost, the famous line would have been said by John Elway.
