Jerry Rice came out of tiny Missouri Valley State and made an almost immediate impact on the San Francisco 49ers. During his career he would lead the league in receptions twice, receiving yards six times, and receiving touchdowns six times. What were his greatest games though?
-In a 1995 win over the Minnesota Vikings, Jerry Rice caught 14 passes for 289 yards. This was the best performance of his career in terms of receiving yardage.
-There were ten games in Jerry Rice’s career in which he caught three touchdown passes. Once he even caught four touchdown passes. But it was a 1990 game on the road against the Atlanta Falcons, one the 49ers would eventually win by the score of 45-35, in which Rice would catch an amazing five touchdown passes. He finished that day with 13 catches for 225 yards. This would also be one of Joe Montana’s greatest games as he would finish the day with 32 completions for 476 yards and six touchdowns.
Jerry Rice was a once in a lifetime player who had the kind of talent that few other players can even dream of. He played in some of the most important games of his era and put up career numbers that will most likely never ever be matched.
