NFL Running Backs Moving Up The All-Time Leaders List In 2017

With the 2017 NFL coming up, let’s take a look at which active running backs have the chance to move up among the career leaders in NFL history.

Rushing Yards
On the top ten list of all-time rushing yards leaders in NFL history, there is only one active player. Frank Gore sits in 8th place all-time with 13,065 career rushing yards. He’s just 194 yards behind Eric Dickerson in 7th place, 597 yards behind Jerome Bettis, 619 yards behind LaDainian Tomlinson, and 1,036 yards behind Curtis Martin in 4th place. Gore has had nine 1,000 yard rushing seasons during his career, including one last season, so 4th place is within reach.

Rushing Touchdowns
There is just one active NFL running back listed in the all-time list of career rushing touchdowns leaders. In 10th place is former Vikings running back Adrian Peterson. With just 10 rushing touchdowns in 2017, a mark he’s hit eight times during his career, Peterson would Barry Sanders, Marshall Faulk, Shaun Alexander, John Riggins, and Jim Brown and find himself in 5th place all-time. Even then, he would only be three behind all time great Walter Payton.
