Since 1984, the New York Giants and New York Jets had shared Giants Stadium. It had been constructed and opened in the mid 1970s and was a great stadium, but nearing the middle of the 2000s, both teams expressed interest in a new stadium. As a result, New Meadowlands Stadium was opened and both the Giants and Jets proceeded to move in to their new home in time for the 2010 season.     -When completed, the final bill for the construction of the facility was 1.6 billion dollars.
