Two Rutgers Quarterbacks Have Been Selected In The NFL Draft


The Rutgers Scarlet Knights football team traces its history all the way back to 1869 and a contest between it and nearby Princeton. This has come to be known as the very first intercollegiate football game. Through the years, Rutgers has had some impressive teams and players. How many quarterbacks have they had taken in the NFL Draft though?

Mike McMahon – 2001 – Lions – 5th Round
Mike McMahon had a five year NFL career, playing four seasons with the Lions and one with the Eagles. He started 14 games during his career, posting an overall record of 3-11.

Mike Teel – 2009 – Seahawks – 6th Round
Mike Teel spent his entire rookie season listed as the third quarterback on the Seattle Seahawks roster with starter Matt Hasselbeck and backup Seneca Wallace ahead of him on the depth chart. He later spent time on the offseason/preseason rosters of both the New England Patriots and the Chicago Bears. 2011 saw Mike Teel begin a stint at Kean University as the quarterbacks coach.
