- When Paul Brown originally attempted to form the Bengals, it was his intent to join the NFL and not the AFL. It was only the assurance of the AFL-NFL merger and the knowledge that his team would eventually be in the NFL that made him follow through with the plan.
- Pat McInally had the unique distinction of playing both Punter and Wide Receiver for the Bengals.
