Brett Favre’s Effect On The Best Wide Receiver Seasons In Green Bay Packers History


It goes without saying that Brett Favre is not only the best quarterback that the Green Bay Packers ever had, but one of the best the NFL has ever seen. What is a good way to measure how good he is though? Let’s try by taking a look on the effect he had on the best wide receiver seasons in Packers team history.

When measuring by the total receptions statistic, the best season every put up by a Packers wide receiver came in 1993 when Sterling Sharpe caught 112 passes. Sharpe is also second on the list, as in 1992 which was Favre’s first year with the team, the receiver had caught 108 passes. In fact, four of the top six most productive wide receiver years for the Packers all belong to the great Sterling Sharpe.

But this post is about Brett Favre’s effect on the best wide receiver seasons.

Brett Favre played for the Packers from 1992 to 2007, a total of 16 seasons. Here is a look at the top 20 seasons ever put up by a Green Bay Packers wide receiver:

Out of the entire top 20 seasons ever put up by a Green Bay Packers wide receiver, sixteen of them were put up with Brett Favre as the quarterback throwing them the ball. The only exceptions being Don Hutson in 1942, Sterling Sharpe in 1989, and then Greg Jennings and Donald Driver in 2008.

It is easy to say that Brett Favre was great, but this is just one more way of illustrating how his greatness elevated those around him.
