Wilbert Montgomery played college football at a very small school, Abilene Christian, but still went on to have a very productive ten year career in the National Football League. He played in a number of big games and was a big part of the formidable Philadelphia Eagles teams of the late 1970s and early 1980s. Here are some interesting facts about Wilbert Montgomery.

-Though he had set the all time National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) record for touchdowns scored in a career, Montgomery wasn’t selected in the 1977 NFL Draft until taken by the Eagles in the 6th round.

-In the Eagles’ Super Bowl loss to the Oakland Raiders, Wilbert Montgomery carried the ball 16 times. Ten of those rushing attempts came on first downs.
