The big NFL news recently was Michael Vick’s signing with the Philadelphia Eagles. This is a pretty big happening and provides for some interesting story lines in the City of Brotherly Love. Despite a long successful career, Donovan McNabb has always had a love/hate relationship with a healthy chunk of Eagles fans out there. If McNabb struggles, a quarterback controversy could heat up. On the positive side, whether you love or hate Michael Vick, it has got to feel pretty good having a quarterback of his experience and ability (although he is two years removed from playing) sitting on the bench should something happen to that number one guy.
But, this is a trivia site… so today we’re going to look at Michael Vick’s career numbers vs. his new team the Philadelphia Eagles.
-Michael Vick has a career record of 1-1 against the Philadelphia Eagles, winning in a Monday Night Football match up during week one of the 2005 NFL season by a score of 14-10, and then losing in a week 17 match up in 2006 by the score of 24-17.
-In his two games against the Philadelphia Eagles, while quarterbacking for the Atlanta Falcons, Michael Vick only managed to throw one touchdown pass. This pass came in the 2006 loss to the Eagles and was thrown to Warrick Dunn in the first quarter.
-In those two games versus the Eagles, Michael Vick has also run for just one touchdown. This happened in the 2005 win when he scampered for a touchdown in the first quarter.
-Michael Vick’s two career touchdowns against the Philadelphia Eagles, one in the air and one on the ground, each went for the same distance, seven yards.
-Michael Vick has one career interception against the Eagles, it was Philadelphia great Brian Dawkins that picked him off in the 2005 game.
It remains to be seen what kind of impact Michael Vick has on the Philadelphia Eagles, or if he has no impact at all, but it will definitely go down as one of the more interesting personnel moves of 2009.
