Players Who Have Died In Car Crashes During Their NFL Careers


Most young people, especially young people in good physical shape, think of themselves as invincible. Pro football players fit into that category and they themselves, along with the fans that watch them, are often shocked when a young football player passes away during their career.

Automobile accidents are one of the largest causes of death for young men. It stands to reason then that there are going to be some pro football players who pass away due to this type of an incident. It doesn’t make it any easier when it happens, but it is a lesson to everyone to drive carefully.

Here is a sampling of players who have died in automobile related accidents since the early 1960’s.

1984 – MIAMI DOLPHINS – David Overstreet, Running Back, Age 25

1989 – ATLANTA FALCONS – Brad Beckman, Tight End, Age 24
