The Most Touchdowns Scored By A 22 Year Old In NFL History

In 1958, his second year in the NFL at the age of 22, on the way to leading his team to a 9-3 record, Jim Brown scored 18 touchdowns. He scored 17 on the ground that year and one on a reception. This set a new NFL record. The previous record for touchdowns scored in a season by a 22 year old had been 13. This had been done by Billy Howton of the Packers in 1952.

Jim Brown’s record for most touchdowns scored by a 22 year old lasted just seven seasons when it was eclipsed by a rookie running back for the Chicago Bears. 1965 saw Gale Sayers score 14 touchdowns on the ground, six on receptions, one on a punt return, and one on a kickoff return for a total of 22.

22 touchdowns scored at the age of 22. A great many NFL players don’t score that many during their entire careers.
