The Pittsburgh Steelers defense has been feared at various times in the team’s history. They have had great defensive players through the years, including Mean Joe Greene, Donnie Shell, Jack Ham, Rod Woodson, Greg Hawthorne, Jack Lambert, Steve Furness, Carnell Lake, James Farrior, and more. One of those great players continues to reak havoc on the field for the opposition, his name is Troy Polamalu.

  • -Troy Polamalu stands at five feet ten inches tall and usually weighs in between 200 and 210 pounds.

  • -When the Steelers drafted him in 2003, he was taken with the 16th overall pick in the draft.

  • -In 2001, Troy Polamalu’s 116 yards on interception returns was more than anyone else in the PAC10.
  • -The Steelers chose Polamalu in the draft because they needed a safety after Dexter Jackson, who had just won the Super Bowl MVP Award with the Tampa Bay Buccaneeers, backed out of a verbal agreement to sign with the team.
