1. The San Francisco 49ers were not always members of the National Football League, the team actually began as members of the rival All-American Football Conference (AAFC) which folded after four seasons. The 49ers merged into the NFL along with the Cleveland Browns and the Baltimore Colts.

2. During his senior year of high school, NFL legend and 49ers great Joe Montana was offered full ride basketball scholarships by two NCAA colleges with successful programs, North Carolina and North Carolina State.

3. One of the most successful head coaches in San Francisco 49ers history, Bill Walsh, had his first coaching job in professional football with the team across the bay. He was the Oakland Raiders running backs coach in 1966.

4. The San Francisco 49ers were the first NFL team to win fifteen regular season games when they went 15-1 in 1984.

5. The 1994 San Francisco 49ers vs. Kansas City Chiefs game was the only time that former teammates Joe Montana and Steve Young played against each other. The game was won by Montana and the Chiefs by a score of 24-17.
