Continuing our week-long look at little known Pittsburgh Steelers information, check this out:
How good is Hines Ward when compared to the wide receivers the Steelers have had through their history? With a team that has had John Stallworth and Lynn Swann, it is tough to break into the headlines. When looking at the most receptions in one season, Hines Ward’s name is all over the Steelers record book. Five of the top six seasons by a Pittsburgh wide receiver have all been had by Hines Ward. He holds the record for most receptions in a season by a Pittsburgh receiver with the 112 catches he hauled in during the 2002 season. He also sits at second, third, fifth, and sixth on the list with 95, 94, 81, and 80 receptions respectively. The one wide receiver that interrupts Ward’s run? Sitting in fourth place on the list is Yancey Thigpen, who in 1995 caught 85 passes. The most Lynn Swann ever caught in a season was 61 in 1978, and the most ever caught by John Stallworth is 80 which he did in 1984.
