Jim Kelly ALMOST Played His Whole NFL Career With Just Marv Levy As His Head Coach

Jim Kelly is one of the all time greats. He really had a fabulous career and after excelling in college for the Miami Hurricanes, he would play in the USFL and then have an eventual Hall of Fame career in the NFL. Kelly is associated with those famous Bills teams that would make it to and then lose four straight Super Bowls. Those teams had great players on them like Kelly, Thurman Thomas, Andre Reed, Pete Metzelaars, Kenneth Davis, Frank Reich, Don Beebe, Keith McKeller, Shane Conlan, Bruce Smith, Darryl Talley, and more… all coached by the legendary Marv Levy.

Jim Kelly and Marv Levy are closely associated because of their lengthy relationship as quarterback and head coach. Marv Levy however was not the only head coach that Kelly played for during his stay in the NFL. In Kelly’s rookie season of 1986, the Bills would start off 2-7 before firing head coach Hank Bullough and hiring Marv Levy. Levy coached the Bills through the 1997 season, while Kelly retired following the 1996 season. In his career, Jim Kelly played 160 NFL games… all but the first nine under head coach Marv Levy.
