Over the years, the Green Bay Packers have had some great receivers. They’ve also been blessed with some very good quarterbacks getting them the ball. Which receivers though have had the best receiving seasons in Green Bay Packers history?
Only three players have ever caught 100 or more passes in a season for the Packers. In third place is Robert Brooks who caught 102 passes in 1995. The great Sterling Sharpe holds both the second and first positions on the list, having caught 108 balls in 1992 and 112 in 1993.
Four players in the history of the Packers have accumulated more than 1,400 yards during one season. In fourth place on the list is Sterling Sharpe who gained 1,423 yards in 1989. Next up on the list is Antonio Freeman who finished one yard ahead with 1,424 yards in 1998. Sterling Sharpe reappears on the list again with the 1,461 yards he amassed in 1992. No player has gained more receiving yards in one season for the team than the 1,497 that Robert Brooks put up in 1995.
The two best touchdown receptions numbers put up by Packers receivers are very respectable, and came more than 50 years apart. In 1942, Hall of Fame player Don Hutson caught 17 touchdowns in one year. Fifty two years later, in 1994, Sterling Sharpe broke the team record by hauling in 18 touchdown receptions. Coincidentally, both players had these great seasons at the age of 29.
