The Most TD Passes By A New England Patriots Rookie Quarterback

The New England Patriots began as a franchise in 1960 in the AFL and over the years have had some very good quarterbacks. Who threw the most TD passes for the team though as a rookie?

In 1993, Drew Bledsoe, fresh out of Washington State University, threw a very respectable 15 TD passes. This put him just four short of the 19 that Jim Plunkett had thrown in 1971 in his first year after a Heisman winning college career at Stanford University. The Patriots team record for most TD passes by a rookie though is the 22 put up by Butch Songin in 1960, that first year in franchise history. The player who caught most of them that season, a total of nine, was Jim Colclough.
