The Top Five Rushing Games By A New York Jets Running Back


From the time the New York Jets started as a franchise in 1960 in the old American Football League, known as the New York Titans at the time, the team has had some great players. They have also played in some awesome games over the years too. Of all the quality running backs they have had though, which of them have had the best five rushing games in team history?

Based on games played through the 2009 NFL season.

#1 – Thomas Jones
On October 18th, 2009 in a 16-13 loss to the Buffalo Bills, Thomas Jones carried the ball 22 times for 210 yards and a touchdown. That’s an average of 9.55 yards per carry.

#2 – Curtis Martin
In 27-17 win over the Indianapolis Colts on December 3rd, 2000, Curtis Martin carried the ball 30 times for 203 yards.

#3 – Adrian Murrell
Adrian Murrell carried the ball 31 times for 199 yards in a 31-21 win over the Arizona Cardinals on October 27th, 1996.

#4 – Curtis Martin
Martin appears in the list for the second time, thanks to a 196 yards on 29 carries performance he had in a 31-24 win over the Cincinnati Bengals on September 12th, 2004.

#5 – Freeman McNeil
On September 15th, 1985, Freeman McNeil broke Matt Snell’s team record for yards in one game that had stood since 1964 when he carried the ball 18 times for 192 yards in a 42-3 win over the Buffalo Bills. That was an amazing 10.67 yards per carry that day.
