The Green Bay Packers are one of the proudest and oldest franchises in the NFL. They have experienced some amazing highs and also some long lasting lows. Over the years though, the team has had some great running backs. Who though has led the Packers in rushing the most times?
Two players have each led the Green Bay Packers in rushing during five seasons. Tony Canadeo played for the team during the 1940s and was the team’s leading rushing in 1943, and then again from 1946 to 1949. John Brockington also led the team in rushing for five seasons, doing so from 1971 to 1975.
One player is rated just a bit above those men though, having led the Packers in rushing six times. Ahman Green was the team’s leading rusher from 2000 to 2004, and then again in 2006.
There are two players though that hold the record for most times leading the Packers in rushing, each doing so for seven seasons, and both men are in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Clarke Hinkle starred for the team in the early days and was their leading rusher from 1932 to 1934, then again in 1936 and 1937, and again in 1940 and 1941. The other player is Jim Taylor who was an important part of the 1960s Packers championship teams and led the team in rushing from 1960 to 1966.
