Facts and information about the Arizona Wranglers

  • After the inaugural USFL season in 1983 was completed, the owners of the Arizona Wranglers and the Chicago Blitz traded every player on their respective rosters to the other team. Essentially, all the 1983 Wranglers played for the Blitz in 1984 and the entire 1983 Blitz played for the Wranglers in 1984.
  • Following the 1984 season, the Arizona Wranglers merged with the Oklahoma Outlaws to form the Arizona Outlaws.
  • During their inaugural season, Arizona wore their white jerseys the entire year. Officially the team had red “home” alternate jerseys, but these were never actually produced.
  • Arizona chose Running Back Tim Spencer with their first pick in the 1983 USFL Draft (2nd overall pick).
