  • The Orlando Thunder was one of the eight original North American teams that played in the original WLAF from 1991 to 1992. When the World League was reactivated in 1995, no North American teams were included.
  • The Orlando Thunder was coached by Canadian Football Hall-of-Famer Don Matthews in their first season and college football legend Galen Hall in their second season.
  • Future ESPN annonuncer Lee Corso was the General Manager of the Orlando Thunder.
  • In ESPN’s fan poll of worst professional football jersey of all time, the Orlando Thunder came in second.
  • In their first year in the WLAF, the Thunder won their first two games of the season and their final three games of the year, but lost all five games in the middle to finish with a 5-5 record.
  • In week two of the 1991 season, the Orlando Thunder scored 58 points against the Raleigh-Durham Skyhawks, the most points ever scored in a WLAF game.
  • The Thunder name would rise again in World League play as Berlin was granted a franchise in 1998 and their team name became the Berlin Thunder.
