  • The San Antonio Riders was one of the original eight WLAF teams based in North America. When the WLAF was reformed in 1995, none of the original North American teams were included.
  • The San Antonio Riders were owned by Larry Benson, brother of Tom Benson the owner of the New Orleans Saints of the NFL.
  • The Co-General Managers of the San Antonio Riders were former Head Coach of the Dallas Cowboys, and Hall-of-Famer, Tom Landry and his son Tom Landry Jr.
  • The professional wrestler going by the name of Bradshaw played football for the San Antonio Riders under his real name, John Layfield.
  • Future NFL coach Mike Riley was the coach of the San Antonio Riders.
  • Future NFL Quarterback and Assistant Coach Jason Garrett was the Quarterback of the San Antonio Riders.
  • The Riders lost the final game of the season in both of their years of existence.
  • During their two years in the WLAF, the San Antonio Riders shutout their opponents twice, but were never shutout themselves.
