  • Philadelphia was one of two teams to play in both the 1974 and 1975 season with the same ownership group, the other was Memphis.
  • The Philadelphia Bell originally didn’t qualify for the 1974 playoffs, but when the Charlotte Hornets couldn’t play the games due to financial problems, they were replaced by Philadelphia.
  • The owner of the Philadelphia Bell was John Kelly, brother of movie star and princess Grace Kelly.
  • During the Philadelphia Bell’s open tryout camp before their first season, a bartender from Philadelphia name Vince Papale made the team despite having no previous collegiate football experience. Papale would go on to play two years with the Bell, followed by three years with the NFL’s Philadelphia Eagles. The 2006 Mark Wahlberg movie, Invincible, is based on the story of Vince Papale.
